Overview

The problem: we want to be more aware of our environment to navigate it safely, but too much information distorts our sense of safety and trust.

The goal: provide situational information about the user’s surroundings without distorting their sense of safety, and give them tools to assess the validity of what they see.

Usability study

Adding varied post types beyond incidents lowers anxiety, a trust bar with a count of voting users makes information easier to validate, and clear location, time, and distance help users assess impact.

Impact & takeaways

The app makes users feel more aware without overloading them, and the trust bar makes it easy to navigate misinformation. A peer said: “I don’t feel anxious when I use it.”
