Overview

The problem: a batch of plants moves between multiple environments, but each control system only knows its own space — making it cumbersome to follow and analyze batches, which leads to inconsistent crop quality.

The goal: a complementary SaaS product that leverages existing control-system data to help growers monitor, analyze, and steer crops — stitching data across the crop journey for easy batch-level analysis.

User research

Growers use multiple systems and manual methods to record crop movement, making aggregation and analysis difficult. Time is the only constant: the timeline of events matters most from both a batch and a grower perspective.

Refinement & mockups

A dedicated section shows the batch journey and zone relationships, while a secondary section carries the grower’s daily tasks and notes — elevating batches that need attention and lowering cognitive load.

Impact & takeaways

With FOCUS, growers analyze results batch by batch with an integrated view of lifecycle data and production metrics. Lesson learned: product pivoting is a balancing act between business needs, market direction, and user needs — achieved only through continuous research.
